Message from the Director, Center of Creative Performing Arts and Sports

Welcome to the Centre for Creative, Performing Arts and Sports (CECPAS).

The Center was established in the year 2022. This is a multi-use performance space intended to be a valuable resource for facilitating performance opportunities for both artists and sports persons within the University. Furthermore, we cater for the growing need for mentorship at national, regional and global levels.

Kibabii University, since its inception, has excelled in performing arts and sports. In Kenya, the Creative, Performing Arts and Sports Sector, play a crucial role in personal wellness and national development. To this end, CECPAS is a key avenue to enabling the University to contribute towards the realization of the Kenya Vision 2030, and successful implementation of the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) for learners pursuing the creative arts and sports pathway in Kenya.

The operationalization of the Center has made Kibabii University a leading institution among its peers for the full integration of arts and sports into the academic experience. CECPAS is envisaged to provide an avenue to identify, develop and expose students’ talents in fine arts, graphic design, theatre arts, music, dance, film and sports.

Through the Center, Kibabii University aspires to position itself as the world’s leader in realizing and exploiting potential in creative expression through talent development and exposure.

We at the Center are cognizant of the need to prepare learners for the dynamic creative and sports industry that employs thousands of Kenyans. Apart from serving our learners who are the main clients, the University views community outreach as an integral component of its activities. Therefore, the Center for Creative, Performing Arts and Sports seeks to expand the University’s effort to serve the community by providing a platform for both preservation and transition of indigenous knowledge and talent through exhibitions, publications, incubation workshops, conferences, music recording, film making and sporting space.

The Center seeks to offer customized adjunct program activities and classes in theatre arts, music, dance, film and sports from certificate to doctoral levels. The Center has enhanced the University’s capacity for hosting both national and regional performing arts and sporting competitions, thus contributing to its visibility globally.

The Center is headed by a Director, one Coordinator and a competent board that oversees the running of the activities.
