Message from Coordinator, Center of Creative Performing Arts and Sports

Welcome to the Center for Creative Performing Arts and Sports of Kibabii University. This is the place that you will forever desire to be. It should be noted that the University has been excelling in performing arts and sports since its inception. Students have horned their skills and represented the University and the country in sporting activities at international levels including the All African Games and the Olympics. The purpose behind the establishment of the Centre for Creative Performing Arts and Sports (CECPAS) is to provide an avenue to identify, develop and expose students’ talents in, fine arts and design, theatre arts, music, dance, film and sports. It aspires to position itself as the world’s leader in realizing and exploiting to the fullest the potential in creative expression through talent development and exposure. As a center we are the cognizant of the need to prepare students for a dynamic creative and sports industry that employs thousands of Kenyans.

The University through the center will seek to reach the mandate of community outreach which is an integral component of its mission. The center serves to expand the University’s effort to reach the community by providing a platform for both preservation and transition of indigenous knowledge and talent through exhibitions, publications, incubation workshops, conferences, music recording, film making and sporting space. The center seeks to play a significant role of offering customized adjunct program activities and classes in theatre arts, music, dance, film and sports from certificate to doctorial levels. The Center further seeks to enhance the University’s capacity for hosting both countrywide and regional performing art and sporting competitions that will contribute to both institutional and national excellence. It is my desire that as you come to Kibabii you will get fulfilment in sampling the activities performed by the center and live to remember the experience gained during your engagement at the center.
